Things People Often Ask

How long does a typical service take?
It depends on what the watch needs. A straightforward Dial & Hand Refresh or Strap Fitting generally takes between three and seven working days. Heritage Movement Care, which involves a full disassembly and cleaning, is typically completed within ten to fourteen working days. We will give you a clearer timeframe once we have had a chance to look at the piece.
Do I need to make an appointment before coming in?
Walk-ins are welcome during our opening hours. That said, calling ahead or sending a message through our contact form means we can set aside time to speak with you properly and avoid any wait. It is entirely your choice.
Will you tell me the cost before starting any work?
Always. We assess each watch and share our findings with you before any work begins. If the watch needs more than initially expected, we discuss it with you first. Nothing proceeds without your agreement.
Do you work on quartz watches as well as mechanical ones?
We have particular experience with older mechanical and automatic movements, but we do also see quartz pieces — especially when the concern is cosmetic or involves the strap and case rather than the module itself. If you are unsure, please feel free to bring the watch in and we will let you know honestly what we can do for it.
Can you service a watch that has not been wound in many years?
Yes. Watches that have been stored quietly for some time often need a full cleaning and lubrication before being run again. Forcing a dry movement can cause unnecessary wear, so we assess the condition carefully before advising the best path forward.
How should I store a watch I am not currently wearing?
A cool, dry place away from direct sunlight is usually sufficient. For mechanical watches, having them serviced before a long period of storage means the lubricants are fresh when you come back to them. We are happy to advise further when you bring a watch in.
